अध्याय 11. जनन — जीवन की निरंतरता
जनन स्वास्थ्य में केवल जनन की प्रक्रिया को समझना ही नहीं, बल्कि अनियोजित गर्भावस्था से बचाव, सुरक्षित और जिम्मेदार निर्णय, मातृ स्वास्थ्य तथा समाज में समानता और जागरूकता बनाए रखना भी शामिल है।
शल्य-चिकित्सा द्वारा गर्भनिरोध
परिभाषा: शल्य-चिकित्सा द्वारा जनन मार्ग की ऐसी नलिकाओं को अवरुद्ध करना, जिससे शुक्राणु और अंडाणु का संलयन न हो सके, शल्य-चिकित्सीय गर्भनिरोध कहलाता है।
अनियोजित गर्भावस्था को रोकने के लिए पुरुषों में शुक्रवाहिनी और महिलाओं में डिंबवाहिनी को अवरुद्ध किया जा सकता है। इससे शुक्राणु और अंडाणु के मिलने की संभावना समाप्त या बहुत कम हो जाती है।
पुरुषों में
पुरुषों में शुक्रवाहिनी को अवरुद्ध किया जाता है, जिससे शुक्राणु आगे नहीं पहुँच पाते।
महिलाओं में
महिलाओं में डिंबवाहिनी को अवरुद्ध किया जाता है, जिससे अंडाणु और शुक्राणु के मिलने की संभावना नहीं रहती।
गर्भपात
परिभाषा: गर्भावस्था के दौरान भ्रूण को चिकित्सकीय या शल्य प्रक्रिया द्वारा गर्भाशय से हटाने की प्रक्रिया को गर्भपात कहा जाता है।
अध्याय के अनुसार, अनियोजित गर्भावस्था के कुछ मामलों में गर्भावस्था के पहले त्रिमास में, जब भ्रूण बहुत छोटा होता है, उसे शल्य क्रिया द्वारा हटाया जा सकता है।
लिंग चयन और सामाजिक जिम्मेदारी
परिभाषा: संतान के किसी विशेष लिंग को प्राथमिकता देकर गर्भावस्था या जन्म से संबंधित निर्णय लेना लिंग चयन कहलाता है।
किसी विशेष लिंग को प्राथमिकता देने के कारण किया गया स्वैच्छिक गर्भपात समाज में लिंगानुपात का असंतुलन पैदा कर सकता है। इसलिए समाज में लड़के और लड़कियों को समान महत्त्व देना आवश्यक है।
प्रसव-पूर्व लिंग निर्धारण
भारत में प्रसव-पूर्व लिंग निर्धारण कानूनी रूप से प्रतिबंधित है। इसका उद्देश्य लिंग आधारित भेदभाव और असंतुलन को रोकना है।
जनन स्वास्थ्य और जिम्मेदार निर्णय
किशोरावस्था में शरीर जनन के योग्य हो सकता है, लेकिन भावनात्मक और सामाजिक परिपक्वता विकसित होने में अधिक समय लगता है। इसलिए जनन और यौन स्वास्थ्य से जुड़े निर्णय विवेकपूर्ण तथा जिम्मेदारी से लेना आवश्यक है।

मासिक धर्म स्वच्छता
परिभाषा: मासिक धर्म के दौरान स्वच्छता, सुरक्षित मासिक धर्म उत्पादों के उपयोग और उनके उचित निपटान से संबंधित सावधानियों को मासिक धर्म स्वच्छता कहा जाता है।
- मासिक धर्म के लिए उपयुक्त उत्पादों का उपयोग करना चाहिए।
- जननांग क्षेत्र की नियमित सफाई करनी चाहिए।
- मासिक धर्म उत्पाद बदलने से पहले और बाद में हाथ धोने चाहिए।
- प्रयुक्त उत्पादों का उचित तरीके से निपटान करना चाहिए।
- पुनः उपयोग किए जाने वाले उत्पादों को अच्छी तरह साफ और पूरी तरह सुखाकर ही दोबारा उपयोग करना चाहिए।
- सैनिटरी पैड को सामान्यतः 4–6 घंटे में या अधिक रक्तस्राव होने पर उससे पहले बदलना चाहिए।
माँ और शिशु का स्वास्थ्य
गर्भावस्था के दौरान माँ का स्वास्थ्य शिशु के विकास और सुरक्षा के लिए अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। माँ को संतुलित आहार, पर्याप्त प्रोटीन, विटामिन और खनिज प्राप्त करने चाहिए। नियमित चिकित्सकीय जाँच, पर्याप्त विश्राम और चिकित्सक की सलाह के अनुसार हल्का व्यायाम उपयोगी है।
जन्म के बाद शिशु की देखभाल
- माँ का दूध शिशु को आवश्यक पोषण और अनेक रोगों से सुरक्षा प्रदान करता है।
- नवजात शिशु के शरीर का तापमान उचित रखना आवश्यक है।
- शिशु का समय पर टीकाकरण कराया जाना चाहिए।

परिभाषा: आशा (ASHA) कार्यकर्ता समुदाय में स्वास्थ्य संबंधी जागरूकता और प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं से जुड़ी प्रशिक्षित महिला स्वास्थ्य कार्यकर्ता होती हैं।
विशेषकर ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में आशा कार्यकर्ता स्वच्छता, टीकाकरण, परिवार नियोजन, मातृ देखभाल, सुरक्षित प्रसव और गर्भनिरोधक विधियों के संबंध में लोगों को जागरूक करती हैं।
