Chapter 1. Writing and City Life

This section explains the development of trade, transport, writing, city administration and the important features of urban life in Mesopotamia. It also highlights the economic activities that supported the growth of cities.

Trade and Exchange

Trade: Trade played an important role in the growth of Mesopotamian cities. Since many natural resources were not available locally, merchants imported essential materials from neighbouring regions.
